Find the little things you enjoy in life and do more of them!
I’ll admit, I have been in a funk lately. I have been just going through the motions feeling like life is just slowly passing me by. I haven’t been posting on Nothing But Gains. I haven’t worked on Be Seen Be You. I haven’t been on any adventures. Shit, I haven’t even been reading as much as I normally do. For lack of better words, I have had a lot of Fuck It in my system.
I am not sure who I am stealing this from, but it hit me this week in order to fix this problem I am going to have to get in motion. How am I going to fix it? Beats the shit out of me. But I do know that if I don’t do something, anything I am going to be in the same place in July as I am today. That is unacceptable.
So, this week I began keeping a list on my phone entitled “Shit that makes me happy.” In one week, that list consists of the following:
- Music. Especially, on a pretty days and Fridays
- Brownies without pecans
- Lifting weights
- Writing. More specifically hearing from people that they enjoy reading what I write
- Good conversation
The action I am taking is to do more of the “Shit that makes me happy” every single day. For instance while writing this I am listening to The Temptations Spotify radio station and drinking a cup of killer coffee.
I have no idea if this will lead to me being more productive and pushing myself towards my goals, but I do know I have smiled more the past couple of days and I might have danced around my apartment to Soul Man by Sam and Dave.
That’s a start.
